1995 SESSION
HB 2003 Composition of school board in certain cases.
Introduced by: Shirley F. Cooper | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Composition of school boards in certain cases. Clarifies the composition of school boards in certain counties (Westmoreland and King William) which include towns that are separate school divisions (Colonial Beach and West Point, respectively) and contain an entire supervisor election district. The affected county school boards will not have a member representing the town, regardless of whether the county school board is elected or appointed. Excluding the supervisor election district contained entirely in the town, the county school board will consist of one member elected or appointed from each of the remaining election districts and an additional member elected or appointed at large from the entire county, excluding the town. The County of King William and the Town of West Point approved elected school boards in November 1994 referenda; the first election for school board members in these jurisdictions will be held in November of 1995.
