SUMMARY:
Accident and sickness insurance; preferred providers. Prescribes preferred provider network formation disclosure and review requirements. The bill requires preferred provider network sponsors to (i) disclose network participation terms and conditions to anyone making a written request for this information, (ii) provide published notice of intent to develop a network within the geographic area in which the network will operate, (iii) provide preferred provider applications to providers who request them, (iv) notify providers who are not accepted into a network and inform such providers of the reasons for their exclusion, and (iv) conduct an internal review of a provider exclusion decision within 30 days of an excluded provider's request for such review.
This bill is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.
