1995 SESSION
HB 1955 Solicitation of contributions; exemptions, fees, reporting.
Introduced by: Mitchell Van Yahres | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Solicitation of contributions; exemption from registration, fee, and reporting requirements. Exempts agencies designated by the Virginia Department for the Aging pursuant to § 2.1-373(a)(7) as area agencies on aging from the registration, fee, and reporting requirements of the statute on solicitation of contributions, administered by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Area agencies on aging are nonprofit organizations, currently pay a few hundred dollars each year in registration fees, and report annually to the Virginia Department for the Aging. Thus, the bill would permit dollars currently paid for the registration fees to be spent on direct services to the elderly and would avoid duplicative reporting to separate state agencies.
