SUMMARY:

Alcoholic beverage control; low alcohol beverage coolers. Adds low alcohol beverage coolers to the type of alcoholic beverage product which may be manufactured and sold. A “low alcohol beverage coller” is defined as a drink containing one-half of one percent or more of alcohol by volume, but not more than seven and one-half percent of alcohol by volume, and consisting of spirits mixed with non-alcoholic beverages or flavoring or coloring materials, and which may also contain water, fruit juices, fruit adjuncts, sugar, carbon dioxide, preservatives or other similar products manufactured by fermenting fruit or fruit juices, The bill provides that low alcohol beverage coolers shall be treated as wine for all purposes of Title 4.1 except that they may not be sold in localities that have not approved the sale of mixed beverages and may not be sold for on-premises consumption other than by mixed beverage licensees.
