SUMMARY:

Administration of epinephrine by registered and licensed practical nurses. Empowers a practitioner of the healing arts to authorize registered and licensed practical nurses to possess epinephrine for its administration in the treatment of emergency medical conditions pursuant to an oral or written order or standing protocol issued by the practitioner in the course of his professional practice. This provision will allow home health nurses and others to carry epinephrine to treat anaphylactic reactions (life-threatening allergic reactions to various substances, including bee stings, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals.
