SUMMARY:

Unemployment Compensation Act; miscellaneous provisions. Makes miscellaneous changes to the Unemployment Compensation Act. The bill (i) clarifies that the definition of “wages” includes wages that should have been paid; (ii) changes from “immediately” to “promptly” the time frame in which moneys are to be paid to the Unemployment Compensation Fund (for administrative purposes); (iii) requires the predecessor employer rather than the succeeding employer (when a successor acquires an employing unit by partial acquisition) to provide information to the Virginia Employment Commission relating to the division of taxable payroll for partial acquisitions; (iv) makes technical changes to the experience rating tax table for employers; (v) provides that if a final decision of the VEC is modified or reversed to deny benefits, the modification or reversal applies to any weeks of unemployment that begin after the final decision; and (vi) makes other technical changes.
