Introduced by: Vincent F. Callahan, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

School board property. Authorizes school boards to sell surplus real property and to retain all or a portion of the proceeds of such sales in capital improvement funds, upon approval of the local governing body and after the school board has held a public hearing on the sale and retention of proceeds. Any retained proceeds would be used for new school construction, school renovation, and major school maintenance projects. In this bill, this authority is permissive and school boards may also convey such property to the local governing body. Currently, the law requires school boards to convey surplus real property to the local governing bodies.
