SUMMARY:
Sheriffs' staffing standards. Provides that the Compensation Board shall fix the number of full-time positions within a sheriff's department based upon the requests and recommendations of the county board of supervisors, the city council, or the sheriff made by February 1 of each year. The bill also establishes minimum deputy sheriffs' standards (i) based upon the number of papers served per hour and the population of the jurisdiction and (ii) for courthouse security.
