1995 SESSION
HB 1678 School board's authority to conduct criminal history records check.
Introduced by: William S. Moore, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
School board's authority to conduct criminal history records check. Adds the Counties of Fauquier and Frederick and the Cities of Falls Church, Portsmouth, and Winchester to the list of local school boards authorized to conduct criminal history records checks of persons accepting employment with the school board. This provision also provides technical amendments to comply with current practices, i. e., that authorized school boards will check out all employees, whether permanent or temporary, part time or full time, and that school boards may require the individual to pay for the criminal records search. A technical change to § 19.2-389 clarifies that it is the school board, not the school division, that is the employing entity requiring the records check.
