SUMMARY:
Virginia Retirement System; early retirement for certain state and local government employees and officials. Expands the coverage of Ch. 785 of the 1994 Acts of Assembly (HB 615) to certain state employees (as listed in the bill) who are exempted from the Virginia Personnel Act, school division superintendents, county administrators, and city managers who are members of the Virginia Retirement System. Under the bill, eligible VRS members who are involuntarily separated from service and who have 20 or more years of creditable service at the date of separation may retire without the reduction in retirement allowance required by § 51.1-155 A 2, upon attaining age 55.
