HB 1387 Accident and sickness insurance & coverage for infertility treatment.

SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance; infertility. Requires insurers, health services plans and health maintenance organizations to offer and make available coverage for medically necessary expenses of diagnosis and treatment of infertility, including, but not limited to, in vitro fertilization, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, gamete intrafallopian tube transfer, zygote intrafallopian tube transfer and low tubal ovum transfer. The high technology procedures are only covered only if certain conditions are met such as less costly procedures have failed. The bill provides that insurers or insureds may contract for such coverage only for married individuals.
