HB 1386 Notice of arrest of school employees, and grounds for suspension.
Introduced by: Mary T. Christian | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Notice of arrest of school employees, and grounds and procedure for suspension. Requires law-enforcement officers and agencies to notify division superintendents of the arrest of school employees for the commission of a felony or crimes of moral turpitude. Currently, law-enforcement officers and agencies are required to notify division superintendents only of charges against a school employee for the commission of an offense involving the sexual molestation, physical or sexual abuse, or rape of a child. Present Code provisions pertaining to the grounds and procedure for suspending school employees reference only teachers. This amendment clarifies that the grounds and procedure to which school boards must adhere in suspending teachers, upon receipt of the required notification by law-enforcement officers and agencies of charges against a school employee for the commission of a felony, crimes of moral turpitude, or offenses involving the sexual molestation, physical or sexual abuse, or rape of a child, also apply to other school board employees.
