SUMMARY:
Establishment of pollution prevention goal. Establishes a statewide goal of reducing the amount of toxic or hazardous substances used, generated, or released by 50 percent by January 1, 2000. The baseline for measuring reductions is 1993. The Department of Environmental Quality will evaluate progress in meeting the goal using information filed under the SARA Title III Program and other sources. This is a recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee Studying Pollution Prevention (SJR 207, 1993).
