SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 359 Recognizing the importance of the family on Children's Day.

WHEREAS, on Children's Day, June 11, 1995, it is entirely appropriate to both recognize and celebrate the strength and endurance of the American family; and

WHEREAS, families, of every race, of every socio-economic status, and in every area of the country, are the foundation of American life; and

WHEREAS, resilient in the face of countless challenges and rapidly changing times, the family endures as a vital part of the health of our children and of our nation; and

WHEREAS, Children's Day 1995 is a unique opportunity for the citizens of the Commonwealth to reaffirm their commitment to strong, unified, and resilient American families; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby recognize the overwhelming importance of the family to the future of the Commonwealth and the nation; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly urge the people of Virginia to take the opportunity on Children's Day 1995 to reflect upon the essential role of the family and to resolve to preserve and protect the American family from the depredations of modern life.
