WHEREAS, from July 16 through July 19, 1994, the City of Norfolk was host to nearly 2,000 legislators from 16 southern states during the 1994 Southern Legislative Conference; and

WHEREAS, the conference was a triumph for the Commonwealth and for the Hampton Roads area, showcasing Virginia and bringing millions of dollars into the local economy; and

WHEREAS, the behind-the-scenes efforts of many individuals and organizations contributed immensely to the success of the Southern Legislative Conference and the resulting benefits to Virginia and Hampton Roads; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend the members of the Conference Planning Committee, Susan Clarke Schaar, Bruce Jamerson, Bill Rowland, Trudy Norfleet, and Dick Werner, for their peerless efforts to ensure the smooth operation of the Southern Legislative Conference; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly commend the scores of corporate sponsors for their steadfastness and generous support; and, be it

RESOLVED FINALLY, That the General Assembly commend the hundreds of state employees, representing 18 state agencies, without whose time, talents, and energy the Southern Legislative Conference could not have achieved its notable success.
