WHEREAS, Harold Eugene “Dusty” Rhodes, a retired C & P Telephone Company employee who worked with the Senate Clerk’s Office during the 1992, 1993, and 1994 Sessions, died on April 28, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Harold Eugene Rhodes, known to his many friends as “Dusty,” was born in West Virginia, educated in Newport News, and joined the C & P Telephone Company in 1953; and

WHEREAS, transferred first to Williamsburg and later to Richmond, Dusty Rhodes worked his way up from the storeroom to a management position with the Engineering Department during his 37 years with the C & P Telephone Company; and

WHEREAS, after his retirement in 1991, Dusty Rhodes was contacted by the Senate Clerk’s Office and offered a position in the Maintenance and Supply Section for the 1992 General Assembly Session; and

WHEREAS, for the next three sessions, Dusty Rhodes became an invaluable part of the Senate Clerk’s operation, building a reputation for reliable, dedicated, and exceptionally meticulous service; and

WHEREAS, a man who took great pride in his work, Dusty Rhodes is remembered with great fondness and respect by the many people with whom he came in contact during the past three legislative sessions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the passing Harold Eugene “Dusty” Rhodes; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Harold Eugene “Dusty” Rhodes as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
