WHEREAS, the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce was organized on April 18, 1935, in the Town of Manassas to serve Prince William County and the towns therein; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber has represented and promoted the community, educational, and business interests of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park since that date; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber has prevailed through times of prosperity and depression and continues to grow and prosper in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber has grown from just a few members in 1935 to over 700 members 60 years later; and
WHEREAS, in 1989, the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce received accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a distinction achieved by only 15 percent of Chambers of Commerce throughout the country; and
WHEREAS, the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 1995; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce on its 60th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce in honor of its 60 years of continuous service to the citizens of Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
