LD1778665Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 2 of Chapter 1 of Title 15.1 a section numbered 15.1-37.3:14 as follows:
§ 15.1-37.3:14. Compensation for killed livestock in Franklin County.
[ Franklin County may, but shall not be required to, provide in
accordance with the provisions of § 3.1-796.118, for compensation to the
owner of any livestock or poultry killed or injured by a dog.
Franklin County may limit the money available, under the provisions of §
3.1-796.118, for compensation to the owners of livestock and poultry killed
or injured by dogs to an amount not less than one half of the funds collected
from animal license taxes in accordance with § 3.1-796.87. Any funds for
such compensation not utilized in any given year shall be carried forward
from year to year and shall be used for compensation to the owners of
livestock and poultry. ]
