LD0260667Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 19.2-44 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 19.2-44. Territorial jurisdiction.
A magistrate shall exercise the powers conferred by this title only in the judicial district for which he is appointed. However, a magistrate may exercise these powers in an adjacent or contiguous judicial district when so authorized by his appointing authority and the chief circuit court judge of the district to which assistance is to be provided.
