Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 8.01-36.1 as follows:

§ 8.01-36.1. Waiver of liability; assumption of risk.

Except as otherwise specifically provided by law, any person may assume a risk which is known or reasonably should be known and release another person from direct liability for future negligence, provided the release is made voluntarily and in writing.
