1995 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Citizens Telephone Cooperative, a rural telephone company that serves about 6,000 customers in the Floyd County area, has donated $200,000 to upgrade the telecommunications technology in the Floyd County Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Floyd County's secondary school and four elementary schools will be connected to a central computerized media retrieval system, thanks to the generosity of the Citizens Telephone Cooperative; and
WHEREAS, the new system will allow Floyd County schools to manage all electronic material through a central point, with easy distribution to the classrooms; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens Telephone Cooperative's commendable willingness to invest in the future of Floyd County, through its public school students, will permit the schools to take full advantage of the new and rapidly changing telecommunications technology; and
WHEREAS, the contribution of the Citizens Telephone Cooperative to the Floyd County Public Schools is a fine example of a public/private partnership that will benefit all of the citizens of Floyd County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Citizens Telephone Cooperative for its generosity and its foresight in contributing to the future success of the students of Floyd County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Citizens Telephone Cooperative as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for its generous contribution to public education in Floyd County.
