1995 SESSION
WHEREAS, on April 22, 1995, the Pamplin Foundation will dedicate the Pamplin Park Civil War Site in Dinwiddie County; and
WHEREAS, Pamplin Park is a private historical complex that will include an interpretive center, battlefield trails, the restored Tudor Hall plantation, and the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier; and
WHEREAS, Pamplin Park Civil War Site is but the latest example of the dedication of Robert B. Pamplin, Sr., to the education of the citizens of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, among the more notable of his many philanthropic contributions to the Commonwealth, Robert Pamplin, Sr., endowed the Pamplin College of Business Administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and co-chaired the Campaign for Excellence, which raised $118 million for Virginia Tech; and
WHEREAS, for more than 20 years, Robert Pamplin, Sr., has also sponsored scholarships for students in Dinwiddie; and
WHEREAS, the Pamplin Park Civil War Site will be one of the finest private Civil War parks in the nation and will become a major educational and tourism resource for the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby designate April 22, 1995, as Robert B. Pamplin, Sr., Day in Virginia, in honor of his lifetime contributions to education in the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert B. Pamplin, Sr., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and gratitude for his significant and ongoing service to the citizens of Virginia.
