1995 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Henrico County Division of Police and the City of Richmond Department of Police participated in a partnership by developing a strike force as part of "Operation Full Alert," an effort to target drug-related crime; and
WHEREAS, the mission of this partnership was to prevent crime, to eliminate the opportunities for crime, to reduce the fear of crime, and to adhere to the highest standards of conduct in performing service to the community and maintaining compassion toward crime victims and others in need; and
WHEREAS, this effort was focused on contiguous areas of Richmond and Henrico to combat mutual drug-related crime problems and to allow law-enforcement personnel to continue to investigate drug dealers when they moved from one jurisdiction to another; and
WHEREAS, during "Operation Full Alert" from October 10, 1994, to January 10, 1995, 138 felony and 76 misdemeanor arrests were made and 44 weapons, 3 vehicles, and $34,704 were seized; and
WHEREAS, the partnership between Henrico and Richmond police reduced crime and provided a safer environment in the affected areas and demonstrated a cooperative effort to address the problem of crime in the Richmond metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Richmond and Henrico have expressed their sincere appreciation for the efforts of the law-enforcement officers involved in this cooperative strike force; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the law-enforcement officers who participated in the successful effort to reduce crime and the climate of fear in the Richmond metropolitan area; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly commend the Henrico County Division of Police and the City of Richmond Department of Police for demonstrating the cooperative spirit required to address the complex issue of crime in the Richmond metropolitan area; and, be it
RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to the Henrico County Division of Police and the City of Richmond Department of Police in appreciation of their cooperative and successful efforts to combat crime.
