1995 SESSION
LD6099356WHEREAS the Virginia Housing Development Authority in June 1994 elected to modify regulations governing housing subsidies by replacing the word “family” with “household”; and
WHEREAS the word “household” may include illegal and/or immoral living arrangements; and
WHEREAS the Virginia Housing Development Authority housing subsidy was initiated to support and strengthen families who will enhance, not detract from, the moral fiber of the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS nontraditional family groups may be individually evaluated for housing subsidies administered by the Virginia Housing Development Authority; and
WHEREAS the majority of Virginians subscribe to the traditional definition of “family”; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the Virginia Housing Development Authority be requested to serve the families of the Commonwealth by returning the terminology in its regulations to reflect the historic and traditional definition of “family.”
