Commending the Annandale High School football team.

WHEREAS, on December 10, 1994, the Annandale High School football team, the defending state champion, put its 25-game winning streak on the line against George Washington High School of Danville, with the winner to be crowned the 1994 Group AAA, Division 6 champion; and

WHEREAS, in a thrilling contest, the Annandale Atoms prevailed in overtime by a score of 47-41, thus continuing two streaks -- two consecutive state titles and 26 consecutive victories; and

WHEREAS, led by All-State players Maurice Daniels, Donovan Yarbrough, Derrick Crittenden, Ryan Brooks, and Jasmin Glenn, who scored six touchdowns in the title game, the Atoms finished the season ranked 12th in the nation by USA Today and fourth by ESPN Scholastic Sports; and

WHEREAS, in winning Annandale’s sixth state football championship, the Atoms also finished as the number one ranked team in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Atoms were ably guided by Head Coach Dick Adams, assisted by Jamie Carayiannis, Bob Bermingham, Billy Edwards, Marshall Jefferson, Bill Curran, Konrad Molter, Chuck Hoskins, Scott Sadowski, Mark Lenert, Rick Baucom, Steve Quesenberry, Bill Maglisceau, and Dave Kish; and

WHEREAS, through teamwork, exceptional talent, fine leadership, and the unflagging support of the community, the Annandale Atoms prevailed once again; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Annandale Atoms on their extraordinarily successfully 1994 football season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Dick Adams as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on a record-setting 1994 Annandale football season.
