1995 SESSION
WHEREAS, the 1994 Frank W. Cox High School field hockey team became the first field hockey team in the country to win six consecutive state championships; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach also tied a national record for most overall championships by winning their ninth; and
WHEREAS, the Falcons of Coach Nancy Fowlkes contributed several other entries to the record book in 1994, including 107 goals scored (ninth place in the national record book), 58 consecutive victories (fourth), and Kim Miller's 50 goals (fifth); and
WHEREAS, Coach Nancy Fowlkes has won more games than any other field hockey coach in the history of the Commonwealth, and her 268 victories rank her sixth nationally; and
WHEREAS, Falcon Kim Miller, with 50 goals in 1994 and 97 in her career, is the leading scorer in Virginia history; and
WHEREAS, the continued athletic dominance of the Falcons field hockey team is made all the more remarkable by the academic performance of the team, all 18 members of which made the honor roll for the first quarter of the academic year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Frank W. Cox High School field hockey team for yet another prodigiously successful season and 1994 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Coach Nancy Fowlkes in honor of the astonishing success of the Falcons of Frank W. Cox High School.
