HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 428
Commending William B. Hubbard.

WHEREAS, William B. Hubbard of Middlesex County won the 20th Annual Richmond Times-Dispatch Spelling Bee in the spring of 1994; and

WHEREAS, a seventh-grade student at St. Clare Walker Middle School, Will Hubbard triumphed over 42 other Central Virginia contestants to win a $1,500 college scholarship and a trip to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, a straight-A student at St. Clare Walker, Will Hubbard was one of 238 students from around the United States and several foreign countries to compete in the National Spelling Bee, where he advanced to the second round; and

WHEREAS, a self-motivated student who reads voraciously and lists history and social studies among his favorite subjects, Will Hubbard, through his fine performance in spelling competitions, has brought credit to himself, his family, his school, and the Middlesex community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend William B. Hubbard for his victory in the 1994 Central Virginia Spelling Bee and for representing the Commonwealth with distinction at the National Spelling Bee; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to William B. Hubbard as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and best wishes for the future.
