Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-308.5:1 as follows:

§ 18.2-308.5:1. Sale or possession of mechanical devices designed to increase rate of fire of firearms; penalty.

A. It shall be unlawful for any person to manufacture, import, sell, offer for sale, possess or transport in the Commonwealth, any mechanical device which is designed to increase the rate of fire of any semi-automatic firearm to any rate beyond the capability of an unaided person to operate the trigger mechanism of that firearm.

B. A violation of this section shall be punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor.
