HOUSE BILL NO. 2224 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Senate Committee for Courts of Justice on February 19, 1995) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Davies) A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 7 of Title 11 a section numbered 11-71.1, relating to public procurement; alternative dispute resolution.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 7 of Title 11 a section numbered 11-71.1 as follows:

§ 11-71.1 Alternative dispute resolution.

Public bodies are authorized to enter into agreements to submit disputes arising from contracts entered into pursuant to this chapter to arbitration and to utilize mediation and other alternative dispute resolution procedures; however, such procedures entered into by the Commonwealth, or any department, institution, division, commission, board or bureau thereof, shall be nonbinding and subject to § 2.1-127, as applicable.
