LD7664432Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 3.1-388.2 as follows:
§ 3.1-388.2. “Sell by” date.
It shall be unlawful to offer for retail sale any packaged perishable food without a label that bears the date by which the food is to be sold. For purposes of this section, “perishable foods” means poultry, meats, milk, eggs, and seafood. A violation of this section is a Class 3 misdemeanor.
