CHAPTER 740 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 15.1-9.1:3, relating to the duties of city and town attorneys. [H 1873] Approved April 6, 1995

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.1-9.1:3 as follows:

§ 15.1-9.1:3. Authority of city and town attorneys to prosecute certain criminal matters.

City and town attorneys, if so authorized by their local governing bodies, and with the concurrence of the attorney for the Commonwealth for the locality, may prosecute criminal cases charging either the violation of city or town ordinances, or the commission of misdemeanors within the city or town, notwithstanding the provisions of § 15.1-8.1.
