1995 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 63.1-44.1 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 63.1-44.1. Local boards serving certain districts.
Notwithstanding the provisions of § 63.1-44, :
1. The local board for a district consisting of a county with a population of at least 35,300 but not more than 35,500 and a city with a population of at least 8,700 but not more than 8,900 may be, at the discretion of the governing bodies of the participating city and county, the officer in charge of the department or division of public welfare serving such district. If such officer serves as the local board, he may designate his principal assistant, the superintendent of public welfare or the chief public assistance officer to act on his behalf, in his absence, to approve, cancel or change grants made under the provisions of this title.
2. At the discretion of the governing bodies of the participating cities and counties, the local board for a district may be composed of the chief administrative officer of each political subdivision, who may designate his principal assistant to act on his behalf, in his absence, to approve, cancel or change grants made under the provisions of this title.
In addition, the provisions of § 63.1-43.1 shall apply.
