SB 83 Insurance agents; continuing education requirements.

Introduced by: Richard J. Holland | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Insurance agents; continuing education requirements. Amends provisions in Chapter 18 in Title 38.2 governing continuing education requirements for insurance agents licensed in Virginia. One amendment authorizes agents to obtain two credit hours in insurance law and regulations applicable in Virginia, instead of Virginia-specific insurance law. The remaining amendments include the following new exemptions from continuing education requirements: (i) resident agents who have successfully passed the required examination for a license during a biennium are exempt from meeting the continuing education credit requirements for that biennium and (ii) resident and nonresident agents issued a license during a biennium's last 12 months are exempt from the continuing education requirements for that license in that biennium. An emergency clause makes the bill effective from its passage.
