SB 552 Accident and sickness insurance; participation of podiatrist.

SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance; participation of podiatrist. Prohibits preferred provider plans and health maintenance organizations from excluding a podiatrist from provider networks that have active medical staff privileges or admitting medical staff privileges at specified hospitals, if such podiatrist has a delineation of privileges that would enable the podiatrist to perform the type of services that are covered by the contract at the designated hospital or hospitals. The bill specifies that the State Corporation Commission has no jurisdiction to adjudicate controversies that may arise from the statute's provisions.
