SB 464 Town members of Montgomery County school board.

SUMMARY:

Town members of Montgomery County school board. Provides for the phasing out of the seats on the school board now held by the towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg as the county elects its school board members by popular election. Since Montgomery County will have staggered elections of school board members, all members of the board will not have been selected by popular vote until the 1997 election. Rather than eliminate the two town seats on a staggered basis, both appointive seats will be extended to January 1, 1998, when the two seats will be abolished.
