SUMMARY:
Opening of the school year. Removes the requirement that local school boards set the school calendar so that the first day students are required to attend school is after Labor Day. The Board of Education's authority to waive this requirement is deleted. This amendment allows school boards to set the school calendar to start after Labor Day.
