SB 399 Sale of bear.

Introduced by: Jackson E. Reasor, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Sale of bear. Prohibits the buying and selling of bear or bear parts. Currently bear may be sold during the open hunting season only. By eliminating this period in which the purchase and sale of bear is legal, all sales will be illegal. The unlawful purchase or sale of bear or bear parts will be a Class 1 misdemeanor; however, if the combination of sales or purchases totals $200 or more during any 90-day period, it will be punishable as a Class 6 felony. After July 1, 1999, the purchase and sale of legally-taken bear will be permitted during the open hunting season. The bill also clarifies existing law that any unlawful sale or purchase of a wild animal is a Class 1 misdemeanor or Class 6 felony.
