SUMMARY:
Public assistance. Requests the Department of Social Services, in consultation with the Virginia Poverty Law Center, to study the feasibility of eliminating public assistance eligibility for unmarried minor parents, requiring unmarried minor parents to live with their parents or another appropriate person or in an appropriate placement in order to be eligible for public assistance and requiring grandparents to be financially responsible for children born to their unmarried minor children. This resolution is a recommendation of the Commission on Stimulating Personal Initiative to Overcome Poverty and the Department is required to report its findings to the Commission.
