SUMMARY:

Long-term care. Requests the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, in cooperation with appropriate state and local agencies and organizations, to review the plan for state-level consolidation of certain long-term care and aging services within a single state agency, and to develop a plan for the coordinated delivery of such services at both the state and local levels. This is a recommendation of the Long-Term Care and Aging Task Force which was created pursuant to HJR 603 of the 1993 General Assembly Session. The Task Force recommended consolidation of certain state agency functions regarding the elderly and long-term care and recommended the establishment of another task force to study local implementation issues. The Secretary is also requested to develop a plan to incorporate long-term care and aging services currently available through the Department of Social Services within the proposed Department of Aging and Long-Term Care Services.
