SUMMARY:

Prison programs. Expands current provisions for court placement of certain offenders directly into a home/electronic monitoring program as a condition of probation, provided the felon meets certain criteria, including the type of offense committed. This bill also allows the court to place additional classes of offenders directly into work release, education, or other rehabilitative programs as they have previously been able to do for any offender who was convicted and sentenced to confinement in jail.
