SUMMARY:

Jails--authority of officers. Gives the same authority as sheriffs to jail officers of local and regional jail authorities to transport prisoners assigned to them to various authorized work and treatment programs. Under current law, jail authorities would have to rely on local sheriff's offices to provide transport for these purposes.
