SUMMARY:
School health services. Allows local school boards to strive to employ, or contract with local health departments for, nursing services, as consistent with a ratio of at least one nurse per 2,500 students by July 1, 1994; at least one registered nurse per 2,000 students by July 1, 1995; at least one registered nurse per 1,500 students by July 1, 1996; and at least one registered nurse per 1,000 students by July 1, 1997. The Board of Education will be required to monitor the implementation of this provision and to report on how school health funds are used in each locality, and to provide a detailed analysis of school health expenditures to the relevant committees of the General Assembly.
