HB 634 Conservation officers.

Introduced by: Thomas M. Jackson, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Conservation officers. Establishes a procedure for the Governor to commission employees of the Department of Conservation and Recreation as conservation officers. Conservation officers are placed under the Line of Duty Act, and are provided with the status of law-enforcement officers. The bill provides a procedure for decommissioning commissioned but inactive conservators of the peace. The jurisdictional area of conservators of the peace is limited to a single jurisdiction at any time, which creates administrative difficulties. The procedure for commissioning Department employees as conservators of the peace is eliminated.
