SUMMARY:

Fire protection; Statewide Fire Prevention Code. Provides that locally adopted fire prevention regulations which are more restrictive or extensive in scope than the Fire Prevention Code do not affect the voluntary installation of smoke alarms in commercial buildings where such alarms are not required under the Fire Prevention Code. The bill also authorizes the State Fire Marshal to enforce the fire code in cooperation with the local governing body.
