Introduced by: Thomas M. Jackson, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Juvenile detention. Eliminates discretionary authority of courts to order a person over 18 to be detained prior to disposition in a juvenile facility rather than in an adult facility, except where the adult is before the court for a violation of the terms of aftercare (i.e., probation following release from a learning center). Adults who commit new offenses while within the jurisdiction of the juvenile or family courts will be detained, pending disposition on the new offense, in adult facilities.
