1994 SESSION
HB 581 Workers' Compensation Commission.
Introduced by: Bernard S. Cohen | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Workers' Compensation Commission; fee disputes with health care providers. Vests the Workers' Compensation Commission with administrative jurisdiction over fee disputes concerning services rendered by attorneys, hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in connection with claims under the Act. The bill also prohibits the practice of "balance billing" by health care providers. Balance billing occurs when an employer or its insurance carrier (i) pays a health care provider less than the total amount invoiced for services rendered in treating an injured employee and (ii) the health care provider bills the injured employee for the balance of the unpaid invoice.
