SUMMARY:

Deferred payment of fines and costs. Eliminates the requirement for the issuance of a show cause summons and the defendant's subsequent failure to appear as preconditions for the issuance of a capias upon the defendant's failure to appear on a certain date to show cause, when notice of such date has been earlier acknowledged by the defendant upon the court's acceptance of his deferred payment plan. This bill is intended to overrule a 1990 Attorney General's opinion (1990 Atty. Gen. Rep. 138).
