HB 332 Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.

Introduced by: J. Paul Councill, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. Clarifies attendance criteria at the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) for children with multiple disabilities to comport with federal and state regulation and practice. References to "multi-handicapped" are replaced with "sensory-impaired multiple disabilities"--a combination of disabilities, one of which must be a sensory impairment, which requires services that cannot be provided in special education programs designed for one impairment. The VSDB at Hampton provides programs for children who are multi-handicapped or, in current terminology, have sensory-impaired multiple disabilities.
