SUMMARY:
Savings banks; conversion. Authorizes savings banks to convert from mutual savings institutions to stock savings banks with the approval of the State Corporation Commission's Bureau of Financial Institutions. A parallel provision currently permits nonstock (or mutual) savings and loan associations to convert to stock associations. Under the bill, the fee changed by the SCC for investigating an application for such conversion is specified to be $5,000. An emergency clause makes the bill effective from its passage.
