HB 232 New trial for inadequate damages.

SUMMARY:
Additur. Authorizes the court in cases in which the damages awarded by the jury are inadequate as a matter of law to (i) order a new trial or (ii) require the defendant to pay more or undergo a new trial. Either party may appeal the additur if it is accepted under protest.
The bill is recommended by the Boyd-Graves Conference of the Virginia Bar Association.
